RFP SJVLS 15-001: Bibliographic Record Cleanup

Purpose

SJVLS seeks proposals from vendors qualified in the area of enhancement and clean-up of MARC records and of validation and correction of bibliographic authority records. The members of SJVLS share a bibliographic database on the Horizon library management system. SJVLS plans to migrate to the Evergreen system in late 2015, and would like to ensure that records loaded into the new system conform to current standards and are as free of invalid records as possible. We envision doing this through a one-time clean-up of existing records and an on-going service for new records and changes to existing valid authorities.

Background

SJVLS serves the public library systems of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Mariposa, and Tulare Counties, and the city/district libraries of Coalinga-Huron, Porterville, and Tulare. In all, SJVLS represents 10 library jurisdictions and 110 individual library locations including large urban, medium city/suburban, and small, isolated rural libraries. [See http://www.sjvls.org for a map of branch locations.]
SJVLS attempts to provide the member libraries with services that can be performed more economically as a consortium than as individual libraries.
