ValleyCat Mobile App Returns

The ValleyCat mobile app is available again to download from the Apple and Android app stores. Library patrons can use the app to search the catalog, place holds, checkout eBooks and eAudiobooks, access information about library branches, and other features provided by your library.

Outage Timeline

On November 26, 2023, the ValleyCat mobile app stopped working, due to a contractual dispute between our library software provider, SirsiDynix, and a third party they contracted with to provide components for the app. The information available at the time indicated the app would not come back, so SJVLS recommended deleting the app. Since then, SirsiDynix has worked with their third-party provider to resolve the dispute.
At the end of February, SirsiDynix announced they reached a resolution with their third-party provider to restore access and functionality. On February 29, the ValleyCat mobile app began working again for anyone who kept the app on their phone or tablet. The next day the app was re-listed in the Google Play Store. At their meeting last week, SJVLS’s Automation Committee voted to re-list the app in the Apple App Store, and the app was made available again on March 21.

What’s next?

The current ValleyCat mobile app will remain available while SirsiDynix completes development of their new app. The new version of the app offers better integrations with Apple and Android devices, plus an updated look and layout. We will release more information as we get closer to upgrading.
SJVLS recognizes that many of our patrons rely on the app to find materials in our catalog. We apologize for the inconvenience of the app being unavailable. We appreciate your patience as our vendors worked toward a solution. We look forward to continuing to provide resources to our patrons.
