SJVLS Mobile App is Offline

***THIS MESSAGE WAS UPDATED ON 12/5/23 TO PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION***

The ValleyCat Mobile App is currently offline.

Unfortunately, SJVLS will not be able to offer a library mobile app for a few months due to a disagreement between our library software provider, SirsiDynix, and a 3rd party they contracted with to provide components for the mobile app. SirsiDynix is currently working to complete a new mobile app for its customers, and SJVLS will make it available as soon as we possibly can once it’s released.

To avoid directing library patrons to a broken app, SJVLS will remove the current ValleyCat mobile app from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store as soon as possible. SJVLS recommends uninstalling the current ValleyCat mobile app if it’s installed on your device.

Until the new ValleyCat mobile app is ready patrons that want to access library services on mobile devices can use the web browser version of ValleyCat. This version of ValleyCat is responsive and mobile-friendly and provides access to most of the features from the mobile app, including searching the catalog, placing holds, checking out eBooks and eAudiobooks, and viewing current checkouts, holds, and account information. You can find the URL to your library's version of ValleyCat in the list below.

Here is a statement from SirsiDynix’s CEO, Bill Davison, regarding the ValleyCat mobile app:

SirsiDynix is the owner of your library’s mobile application. However, another vendor controls the access of the app. Unfortunately, they have unexpectedly disabled the app, rendering it inoperable.

As an immediate solution, we are working with your library to enable mobile searching of the catalog via the library’s website. This allows many of the core search features of the mobile app to be available on your mobile devices. You can use the URLs below to access this capability:

We have also been aggressively developing an entirely new, next-generation mobile app for your library. While it is not yet available for general use, we anticipate it will be ready in the next few months. This app will deliver the functionality you enjoyed in the original app, along with many new features.

We regret any inconvenience this has caused you. Please know that your library had absolutely no way of anticipating this situation, and we hope you’ll be understanding as we work through this difficult, interim period.
