RFQ for Microsoft Licenses

The San Joaquin Valley Library System released an RFQ to purchase Microsoft Licenses from a qualified Microsoft Partner. SJVLS is a consortium of public libraries located in California’s Central Valley. We provide our members with shared infrastructure for library services, telecommunications, and other IT services. This includes managing a Wide Area Network, connecting our libraries to the data center located in Fresno, providing shared services such as our Office365 subscription, email services, firewalls and network security, and hosting and maintaining the shared Integrated Library System (ILS) used by all libraries to catalog and circulate materials to patrons.

Since 2013, SJVLS has provided our members and their staff with Microsoft accounts and services, and acts as the main Administrator for Office365 accounts. SJVLS utilized the free Office365 subscription through Microsoft’s Education Program. Recently, Microsoft announced they will discontinue the free education licenses we were using, and SJVLS needs to purchase licenses for staff. Unfortunately, Microsoft requires a debit or credit card payment to purchase licenses directly, which is not feasible for SJVLS based on the costs associated with our licenses. SJVLS cannot make payments by credit card and need to be able to receive an annual invoice and pay with a check or ACH transfer. 

SJVLS is seeking quotes from certified Microsoft Partners to purchase E3 and E5 licenses for SJVLS staff as well as staff from our member libraries. SJVLS is aware of the changes to Microsoft’s Education Program and that public libraries now qualify as Non-Profit partners. SJVLS has already applied for and was accepted into the Non-Profit partner program.
